Your information is used to answer your request, do the work and run our ads responsibly. This page explains what that means in plain language.
The short version
- We collect what you give us when you ask for a quote or book online, and we use it to get back to you and do the work.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We may run ads on Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and other platforms. Those platforms can use cookies and pixels to show our ads to people who visited this site and to tell us whether an ad led to a call or a quote request.
- If you agree to get texts from us, you can reply STOP to end them or HELP for more information. Your mobile number and text consent are never shared with third parties for marketing.
- You can opt out of personalized ads at any time. The links are in the advertising section below.
- Questions or requests go to info@southwestwheels.ca.
Who we are
This website, southwestwheels.ca, is run by Southwest Wheels and Customs ("we", "us"), a wheel, tire, paint protection film and window tint shop at 647 Wilton Grove Rd #1, London, Ontario N6N 1N7. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through this site and at the shop.
We follow Canada's federal privacy law for businesses, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you have a question about this policy, our privacy contact is the shop owner, reachable at info@southwestwheels.ca or (226) 215-4673.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Quote requests. Your name, phone number, email, how you'd like us to contact you, your vehicle's year, make and model, the service you're interested in and anything you write in the message box.
- Calls, texts and emails. Whatever you share when you get in touch with us directly.
- Online shop and bookings. If you search for, order or book tires and wheels through the shop on our site, you enter your vehicle details and contact information there. See Our online shop below.
- At the shop. Details we need to do the work and invoice it, such as your vehicle information and what we installed.
Information collected automatically
- Basic visit data. Like most websites, our host keeps standard logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time.
- Advertising and analytics data. If we use advertising or analytics tools (described below), they may collect the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, the device and browser you use, your approximate location based on IP address, and whether you sent a quote request or tapped to call. These tools use cookies, pixels and similar technology.
- Browser storage on your own device. The site saves your scroll position so the back button and refresh return you to the same spot, and it holds your first name for a moment so the thank-you page can greet you. This stays in your browser, is not sent to us, and clears when you close the tab.
How we use it
- To reply to your request with pricing, availability or a call.
- To book, do and invoice the work, and to handle warranty questions afterward.
- To keep the site working, secure and free of spam.
- To understand which pages, services and ads people find useful, so we can improve the site and spend our ad budget better.
- To show our ads to people who have visited the site (remarketing), as described in the next section.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We won't send you promotional emails or texts unless you've agreed to receive them, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and every promotional message will include a way to unsubscribe. Replying to a quote you asked for is not a promotional message.
Text messages (SMS)
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, for example by choosing text as your contact preference on a form, checking a consent box or texting us first, we may text you about your quote, appointment confirmations and reminders, updates on your vehicle and, only if you have opted in to them, our deals and seasonal offers.
- Your consent. By opting in, you consent to receive text messages from Southwest Wheels and Customs at the number you provided. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of buying anything from us.
- Your information stays private. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are excluded from every sharing category in this policy and will not be shared with any third parties.
- Message frequency. Message frequency varies. You will only get texts related to your requests and appointments, plus recurring promotional messages if you have opted in to them.
- Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. You can also reply CANCEL, END, QUIT or UNSUBSCRIBE. We'll send one message confirming you've been unsubscribed, and you won't get any more texts unless you opt in again.
- Help. Reply HELP to any message for more information, or contact us at (226) 215-4673 or info@southwestwheels.ca.
- Costs. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Our texts will tell you who they're from and how to reply STOP to opt out or HELP for more information. When you first opt in, the confirmation text will also tell you that message frequency varies and that message and data rates may apply.
Advertising, remarketing and analytics
We advertise online and may use the tools below. Not every tool is in use at all times, but this section describes how each one works when it is.
Remarketing and third-party ad vendors
We may use remarketing to show our ads to people who have visited southwestwheels.ca. This means third-party vendors, including Google and Meta, may show our ads on sites and apps across the internet. These vendors use cookies, pixels, web beacons and similar technology to serve ads based on your past visits to our website and other websites, and to measure how well those ads work.
We use Google Tag Manager to load our measurement and advertising tags on this site. Tag Manager itself doesn't build a profile of you, but the tags it loads may. We use Google Analytics to see how visitors find and use the site, such as which pages are viewed and whether a quote request was sent, and we use Google Ads, including conversion tracking and remarketing. Google may collect information about your visit through cookies and use it to measure ad results and show you ads. You can learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of personalized ads from Google in Google My Ad Center, and you can stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
We use the Meta Pixel and may use other Meta Business Tools. This means we may use pixels, web beacons and other storage technology from third parties, including Meta, to collect or receive information from our website and elsewhere on the internet, and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. Meta may use what it collects as described in the Meta Privacy Policy. You can control the ads you see in your Meta ad preferences.
Other platforms
We may also advertise on platforms such as Microsoft Advertising (Bing), TikTok or similar networks, which use comparable tools. Each platform has its own privacy policy and ad settings.
Customer lists
We won't upload your email address or phone number to an ad platform to target or measure ads unless you have agreed to it. If we ever do, it is sent in a scrambled (hashed) form, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
How to opt out of interest-based ads
- Visit the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (YourAdChoices.ca) to opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies.
- Visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
- Use the Google and Meta settings linked above.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use your browser's private mode. On phones, you can limit ad tracking in your device's privacy settings.
Opting out doesn't mean you'll stop seeing ads. It means the ads you see won't be based on your visits to our site.
Cookies and similar technology
Cookies are small files a website or service saves in your browser. Pixels (also called web beacons or tags) are small pieces of code that tell a service a page was viewed or a button was pressed. We use them for three things:
- Needed to run the site, such as spam protection on our forms and remembering your scroll position.
- Analytics, to count visits and see which pages are useful.
- Advertising, to show and measure our ads, as described above.
Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, some photos from Unsplash and, on shop pages, the tire and wheel search from TireConnect. When your browser loads those, the provider receives your IP address and basic browser details, which it needs to deliver the content.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block them, the site still works, though the online shop may not be able to keep your search or cart.
Our online shop
The tire and wheel search, ordering and booking on our site are provided by TireConnect, a third-party service. Information you enter there is collected by TireConnect and shared with us so we can fill your order or booking. TireConnect handles that information under its own terms and privacy policy. If payment is taken online, card details are processed by the payment provider and we never see your full card number.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information with companies that help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job:
- Website hosting and forms: Netlify hosts this site and receives quote requests sent through our forms.
- Online shop: TireConnect and the suppliers and distributors needed to price, order and deliver your tires or wheels.
- Email, phone and business software: the services we use to answer you, schedule work and keep our books.
- Advertising and analytics: Google, Meta and similar platforms, as described above.
- Professional advisers and authorities: our accountant or lawyer when needed, and government or law enforcement when the law requires it.
- A new owner: if the business is sold or merged, customer records would go with it, under the same protections.
None of the sharing above includes text messaging opt-in data or consent. Your mobile number and text message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See Text messages (SMS).
Where your information is stored
Some of the companies we work with, including our website host and the ad platforms, store and process information in the United States and other countries. While it is there, it is protected by contract and by our providers' own safeguards, but it can be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country under its laws.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Quote requests that don't turn into a job are usually deleted within two years. Invoices and records of work are kept as long as tax law requires, which in Canada is generally six years. Advertising and analytics platforms keep data according to their own retention settings and policies.
How we protect it
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), our forms are protected against spam, and access to customer information is limited to people at the shop who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive information, such as banking details or ID numbers, through the quote form or by email.
Your rights and choices
- Access and correction. You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to fix anything that's wrong.
- Withdraw consent. You can withdraw your consent to how we use your information, subject to legal or contract limits. For example, you can ask us to stop contacting you, or to delete a quote request.
- Unsubscribe. Every promotional email or text we send will tell you how to stop them.
- Ads. You can opt out of personalized ads using the links in the advertising section.
To make a request, email info@southwestwheels.ca or call (226) 215-4673. We may need to confirm who you are first. We'll answer within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with how we handled your request, please tell us so we can try to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This site is meant for adults booking work on their vehicles. It is not aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, the tools we use or the law change. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we'll post a notice on the site.
